Overview

Located a five minute walk from Tokyo Station, the Mitsubishi Ichigokan Museum is another iconic feature of Marunouchi district. Originally complete in 1894, the Ichigokan was the first office building in Japan, designed by British architect Josiah Conder. The building was once demolished but recreated in painstaking detail, opening it's doors as an art gallery in 2010. As a tribute to the era the building was originally borne in, the art museum boasts a collection of late nineteenth century art, featuring works by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Odilon Redon, and Félix Vallotton. The art museum holds three major exhibitions a year with a focus on late nineteenth and early twentieth century modern art.
Enjoy a quiet cultural moment drinking in the artwork, exploring the history of the museum, building, and area in the interactive Archive Room, browsing the souvenirs in the gift shop Store 1894, or enjoying a lavish meal or decadent afternoon tea at Café 1894.
