The Museum of the Imperial Collections, Sannomaru Shozokan
Overview
Opened in 1993 within the Imperial Palace East Gardens, the Museum of the Imperial Collections is home to artworks that were passed down in the Imperial Family for centuries. The Museum’s collection spans diverse genres from calligraphy, painting to decorative arts, including many iconic, celebrated works from each period of Japan’s history. After recent construction, the Museum reopened with new exhibition spaces in November 2023 and invites visitors to enjoy various artworks in the historical setting of the Imperial Palace grounds.
